About The Conference

2021 Conference Theme

“We absolutely insist on enjoying life.”
Excerpt from Alcoholics Anonymous, page 132:
“We have been speaking to you of serious, sometimes tragic things. We have been dealing with alcohol in its worst aspect. But we aren’t a glum lot. If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn’t want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life. We try not to indulge in cynicism over the sate of the nations, nor do we carry the world’s troubles on our shoulders. When we see a man inking into the mire that is alcoholism, we give him first aid and place what we have at his disposal.”

Programming Mission

The Capital of Texas Conference offers you a unique weekend of recovery by designing a jam-packed program in which each and every event carries the message to the alcoholic or the al-anon. Whether it’s a compelling Speaker, a step-study workshop, or a sober musical, you will receive the message of the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous as outlined in the “Big Book”.

2021 Sober Musical

The 2021 Capital of Texas Committee is proud to present “Once Upon a Time”, a sober musical written, directed, choreographed, and performed by members of our fellowship.  Join Cindy, an alcoholic princess in her cups, as she tries to get a prince to save her, despite her Fairy God Sponsor’s advice. The play is set in a land where magic is real, and so are the alcoholics.

The show is on Saturday, July 24th. Doors open at 4:30PM and the show begins at 4:45PM. The show is approximately one-hour long.

You can purchase your sober musical tickets when you register for the conference. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the conference. The sober musical always sells out so purchase your tickets early!
